Homemade Tofu Burger Recipe
My favorite vegan tofu burger recipe is what I have carefully put together for you, so you too can start making your homemade tofu burgers.

For the Tofu Patties
- 14 oz 400g extra-firm tofu, pressed
- 1 cup breadcrumbs use gluten-free if needed
- 2 tbsp soy sauce or tamari
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tbsp tomato paste
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- ½ tsp black pepper
- ½ tsp salt
- 1 tbsp nutritional yeast optional but recommended
- 1 small carrot finely grated
- 1 tbsp cornstarch or arrowroot powder
For Serving
- 4 burger buns
- Lettuce leaves
- Tomato slices
- Vegan mayo or vegan aioli
- Pickles
- Red onion slices
- Your favorite vegan burger toppings
Add:
Breadcrumbs
Soy sauce
Olive oil
Tomato paste
Seasonings (paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper)
Nutritional yeast
Grated carrot
Cornstarch
Mix until it forms a dough-like consistency. If it's too wet, add more breadcrumbs; if too dry, add a splash of soy sauce or water.
Cook the Burgers
Heat a little oil in a skillet over medium heat.
Pan-sear patties for 5–6 minutes per side, until golden brown and slightly crisp on the edges.
